Tiger Returns
It has been reported that Tiger Woods is about to return to the fray in March at a local tournament, the Tavistock Cup near Orlando. Usually attended by a few thousand spectators, media interest will no doubt swell numbers and it is expected that whatever tournament tiger makes his comeback on will create a media frenzy.
Tiger Woods Car Crash
Media interest in Tiger Woods' private life has been unabated since he crashed his car into a fire hydrant outside his residence in the early hours of November 27th. The road traffic accident left the 34-year-old dazed and blodied, and raised many questions over the circumstances which led to incident.
It has been speculated that reports of a romantic affair in the media led to an explosive confrontation with his wife shortly before he got into his car that morning. Reported damage to the vehicle was not entirely consistent with the alleged accident situation leading to further speculation in regard to the cause of the damage.
Since the accident, a number of other women have come forward with claims of affairs with the golfer.
One, a Ms. Jaimee Grubbs, released a phone message to the press alleged to be from Tiger Woods asking her to delete his contact details among other things. Ms. Grubbs told the media that she conducted an affair with Tiger Woods not long after the 2007 Masters - two months before Tiger Woods’ wife gave birth to their first child.
Tiger Woods has so far not commented directly on any particular allegations, but has apologised in public for letting his family down . A statement published on his website referred to “personal sins” and “transgressions”.
“I am not without fault and I am far short of perfect,” the article said.
Big companies whose endorsements have helped make Tiger perhaps the world's richest athlete, with a fortune estimated at $1 billion, initially said that they were standing by him. However recently some have terminated contracts while denying any direct link to recent events.
The top attraction on the PGA tour, Tiger Woods has won 71 times on the tour in a glittering career that includes 14 major wins.
